So I'm back.  From outer space.  But I don't have a sad look on my face.

I recently got a job application at Bill Miller's, and I anticipate being accepted for a part time job through the holidays.  One thing is for sure, though, I can't wait for the college semester to be over.  I need a chance to breathe again.  I don't know how many Xangonians know this, but I'm in a band.  I sing sometimes and play the keyboard.  We performed this morning, and I must say it went really well.  We played What I've Done (Linkin Park), By His Wounds (some guy) and Made to Love (Toby Mac).  The event was held at our church between services, nothin' special.  What I really enjoy is being a co-lead vocal for What I've Done.  That song is so much fun to sing...

I've recently taken up Muay Thai, because it's the most hardcore fighting form I've seen.  I'm also looking at finding a Parkour group, since I like to flip over metal bars and such... hehe.

peace out, dawg foo gangstas.

Goodbye?

Hey there, dudes and dudettes.

I'm starting a video blog on myspace.  That means I'll be updating on xanga less and less.

I find video blogs to be alot more fun because I can be my silly self more effectively...

Reasons I like myspace: (bullet time!!)

  • I can put a song on my profile that users can control.
  • I can upload videos as well as pictures.
  • I can costumize my layout, and it has a different dynamic to it, making it a little more interesting and challenging.
  • Quite a few of my friends have myspace.
  • I find certain features very appealing and some of them are easier to find, such as new comments, messages and friend requests.
  • I feel safe posting videos and some pictures because only people I know (you have to either A. know how to spell my last name or B. know my email address (the newer one)) can view my videos.
Reasons I want to do a video blog instead of text:

  • I can use facial expressions to my advantage.
  • I can use my voice to make 'accents' and other amusing tones.
  • I personally believe I'm cuter to watch/listen to than to read.
  • I enjoy working with cameras and short clips.
  • I love to be 'silly' on camera (even though the way I talk on the camera is the same way I talk in person - am I right?).

I do understand there are downsides too, but I feel I have enough good reasons.

However, I'll probably check my xanga every now and then... but generally the people who browse my xanga are people I know and talk to in person, over the phone or through email.  so.... this shouldn't be much of a big deal.

Also, I'm more than willing to continue making layouts for xanga (though virtually no one has asked me to make a layout for them) if anyone wants me to.

I have made a layout for someone on myspace, and they are thoroughly satisfied.  It's not terribly professional, but it has its own simplistic elegance.

In any case, I have a life I must attend to....

peace out, dawg foo gangstas.

(ok, I just noticed the video tag.  And the audio tag.  I'll investigate that later. but I still find myspace to have an easier security thing to deal with)

This post is for my friend, whom I cannot name, for his privacy.  Though there are hundreds of people in the world with that name.

In any case...

I got some new CDs.

Songs for the Deaf, Queens of the Stoneage.
Toxicity, System of a Down.
All Star Smash Hits, Smash Mouth.

I wub all my CDs.  However, I'm running out of room in my 96 slot CD case... *sob*

I also got a new game, Touch Detective.  It was an impulse buy... it looked cute, and I liked the name of it... so...

It's quite addictive, though it can be tedious at times.  The great part is that you can never die, fail or otherwise maim yourself from mistakes.  It's just so cute... I love it.  I finished it in four days, though... and that was playing the game in moderation.

Luke says:  Don't drink and drive.
Jacob says (not direct quote): I am awesome.  Come talk to me now.  I'm hot and popular.

or he said something to that effect.  But yes, he is charming and attractive.  Don't take that the wrong way, peoples.    He reminds me alot of one of my other friends.  Both of which are funnah.

peace out, dawg foo gangstas.

*cough*

still sick.

I am feeling better, but now I'm on the coughing stage.  My voice doesn't cooperate sometimes, which is a pain.  Especially when I want to sing in the shower.  Grrr.

Nick left on Monday, I was sad to see him go.  Oh well, he'll be back down before I know it.  And then gone again before I can blink.  *sigh*

On the other end of the spectrum, I cherry chapstick.  And lollipops.  Though we're out of the latter... boo hoo....

But we still have those little icecream container thingies... hehe.  And cake.  And soda.

I know you UC fans are getting frustrated, so I'll see what I can do.  Please have a little more patience (though I must say ya'll have been stoic, with very few complaints.  Thank you).

I got the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack!! The first one.  I also got the Dragonology book... money... giftcards... and this really cool ceramic set.

Blech, coughing can really be unpleasant.

I need Book the Thirteenth!!  I need manga!!  I need to get to Borders!!!

I just realized they {Xanga} don't have any crying smilies.  Just a sad one.  Kind of strange, I think...

Well, not much else to report.  Keep them feet a tappin'!

peace out, dawg foo gangstas.

*achoo*

-sniff-

I'm sick.  head cold kinda stuff.

Friday:  busy co-op stuff, same-old same-old.  At noon I cease my normal eating habits.  The 30 hour famine has begun.

At six I went to my youth group, where several of my friends had already begun complaining about being hungry.

The whole idea of the function is to get a taste of what it's like to be a starving child in Africa.  We all got tribal cards which represented a child and a short summary of their life in poverty and starvation.

I was a child named Irene (names and other details were changed for privacy), whose mother died of malaria.  I had to take care of my siblings.  I had also fallen ill of malaria, which caused my left eye to go blind.  So, for any games we played, I had to wear an eyepatch over my left eye.

Every person there had a child they had to be, they all had ailments.  One of my friend's cards said that the child stepped on a mine, so my friend had to hop on one foot during games (and alot of these games required running/other feats of physical exertion).  Another friend of mine had typhoid fever, so he had to wear extra clothes.  Someone else had never worn shoes before, so they went barefoot while carrying a heavy backpack.  Two other people had lost their arms, so they only had one arm available (the other arm was taped to their side).  Other people were mute, so they wore masking tape over their mouths.

I was an orphan.  So was the other Jessica there (what are the odds?).  Originally, the other tribes are supposed to adopt one of the orphans, but there weren't enough orphans to make it even, so we ended up getting one of the adults there to play with us.

Let me tell you, it is tough.  And often not fair.  But life isn't fair, is it?  Kids would continuously complain that the ailments they were given made it impossible to efficiently play some of the games, but tough luck.  For a while, it seemed like my tribe would die (winning games got you cards like food and water, safety survival, daily life survival, etc.).

After the games and such, it was time to prepare sleeping arrangements.  It was decided earlier that we were to make cardboard houses and sleep in them.  I really liked my house, but I had a serious design flaw - I couldn't stretch out.  Everyone was pretty much sleeping by the time I realized this, so I didn't want to make too much noise, thus I couldn't fix my problem.  Another thing, I stupidly decided I wasn't going to bring a pillow or sleeping bag, so all I had was a thin blanket.  I was awake for six hours shivering with bare feet.  This is why I'm sick right now.

The next day we played more games, and now it seemed like the orphans might stand a chance.

We watched a movie next, called Hotel Rwanda.  Quite a tear-jerker.  Though I didn't cry at all.  However, it really did put things into perspective.  Definately an excellent movie, worth watching.

After the movie, it became evident to me that Jessica and the adult who were on my team had flown the coop - I was all on my own.  A different adult came to my aid for the last game.  Believe it or not, the orphan tribe was one of the tribes to win.  I was proud of myself, needless to say.

During the free times, I discovered I had lost coordination and energy.  The sleep and food deprivation was getting to me.  About an hour before six (the time we could eat), my stomach was really angry with me.  It had gotten restless before and subsided, but now it was unhappy and remaining so.

Finally, it was six o'clock.  We lined up for food to pile on the spaghetti, bread and fruit (there was salad too, but I didn't eat any of that).

Last but not least, we had a little party for my birthday!  I was so surprised.  The group sang me happy birthday, off-key and everything, and then we got to eat cookies, brownies, cupcakes and muffins.  We played hacky-sack... that was a blast.  Some of the stuff the guys did was so funny I laughed to the point of pain (my stomach).

Good times, good times...

then I got sick because of the cold Friday night.  I'm feeling alot better, though.

peace out, dawg foo gangstas.
